I need your help! There are a few books on my list that I am having a hard time with. If you have any suggestions for any of them it would be greatly appreciated!
- A Book With Non-Human Characters- Most of the books that I know with non-human characters are children’s books. I would really like an awesome book that I will enjoy.
- A Book That Scares You- I don’t usually read scary books so I would love some suggestions.
- A Book With Antonyms In The Title- This is just a tricky one.
- A Graphic Novel- I have never read a comic book or graphic novel so I am not sure where to start.
- A Book Set During Christmas- The only ones that I can think of are classics like A Christmas Carol. I am hoping to find something a little more modern, preferably young adult.
- A Book Written By An Author With Your Same Initials- My initials are B.M.H. I am having an impossible time finding an author with the same initials. At this point I will take an author with any variation of my initials.

For the graphic novel, I suggest In Real Life by Cory Doctorow. As for the Christmas one, there is Let It Snow or My True Love Gave To Me. Both a collection of somewhat short stories. Hope this helps 😃

I have heard of Let It Snow before but I didn’t know for sure if it was set during Christmas, so that is good to know! I am going to look up the other two right now and add them to my Amazon wishlist. Thank you!

Hi there! I am taking the same reading challenge. With a book with antonyms in the title you can read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. 🙂 With the book set during Christmas I will be reading Let it Snow, by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. With A book that scares you you can try any James Patterson or Robert Galbraith books, they are my favorite mystery thrillers authors. 🙂 Robert Galbraith is actually J.K. Rowling’s pseudonym, by the way. 🙂

You are the second person to suggest Let It Snow! I might just have to read that one. I haven’t read any of J.K. Rowling’s adult books but I have heard good things. (I had no idea that they were scary!) Thank you!

They are a bit scary, because the three books, under her Robert Galbraith names, are all mystery thrillers. So for me they are scary, and gross too! 😀

For the bool with np humans I suggest Animal Farm..maybe? I have never read it, but I think there are no humans in it.
For the christmas book I can recommend Dash and Lilys book of dares ( I think zhats the title :P)

For a book set during Christmas I read Girl Online, by Zoe Sugg. But Landline by Rainbow Rowell is also set during Christmas…
With non-human characters I think any book with supernatural characters would do, right? Demons, monsters and that sort of stuff? I read The Slow Regard of Silent Things, by Patrick Rothfuss, though admittedly that is not for everyone :S

I had no idea Landline was set during Christmas! I have been wanting to read it, I love Rainbow Rowell.
I wasn’t sure if human-like characters counted or not. I guess that is totally up to me what counts though. Thanks!

yes, Landline is during the week before Christmas :).
i guess it’s totally up to you. My book had real inanimate objects… it was kind of weird. But some books have “monsters” that are not human-like, right?

-Book w/non-human characters: I definitely recommend a Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle (also available as a graphic novel so you can kill two birds with one stone)
-Book set during Christmas: Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle was a fun read for me last Christmas and I just found out there’s a movie coming out this November based on the book.

I had no idea that there was a graphic novel version of A Wrinkle In Time! I keep hearing Let It Snow, I am thinking I definitely need to read it. Even if I read Landline as my Christmas novel I can still use Let It Snow as my collection of short stories. Thank you for the suggestions, I really appreciate it!

Okay, I’m going to give you some recommendations:
A Book With Non-Human Characters- I read the Bone Season by Samantha Shannon, it has some non-human characters that aren’t vampires/werewolves etc and it’s super awesome!
A Book That Scares You- I read Say Her Name by James Dawson, I don’t get scared quickly of books but this one scared me!
A Book With Antonyms In The Title- I read Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott. It’s horrible and beautiful and a very quick book.
Also, with the initials VV it is hard to find an author with the same initials haha!

For a book with non-human characters, I read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I’m not sure if that’s something you’re looking for since it’s a childrens / middle grade novel.
I’m having a terrible time at finding an author with the same initials as me too! I might just have to read a book by an author whose name starts with the letter B so at least we have one initial in common. If you know of any authors with the initials BD, let me know!
I’m not sure exactly what “A Book Based Entirely On Its Cover” entails. Are you supposed to read a book whose cover features something that’s prominent in the book? Or a book you got because you loved its cover? What did you do?

I’ve actually been wanting to read The Lightening Thief and the rest of that series since it is on so many people’s favorites lists. For a book based entirely on its cover I just picked a book that I decided to read just because I loved the cover. I think that however you interpret the prompt works though.

You should definitely give the series a go! I really liked it. The spin-off / continuation series is even better, in my opinion.

For a book with non-human characters, I would suggest, one of my all-time favorite books, Watership Down by Richard Adams. I keep reading that book over and over. I pick it up every few years.

For the scary book I have heard great thing about Shutter by Courtney Alameda, The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco, and Boned & All: A Novel by Camille DeAngelis but haven’t had a chance to read any of them yet. A personal favorite of mine is Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. I haven’t read any graphic novels yet either but I’ve heard great things about Anya’s Ghost and Lumberjanes Vol. 1.

For a book that scares you, I’d recommend The Maze Runner by James Dashner, which can be really creepy during the first read.
